Ochsner Health is seeking a high-caliber, Board Certified or Board Eligible Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon to join our premier surgical team in Lafayette, LA. This is a rare opportunity to practice at the region’s only Level 2 Trauma Center, combining a high-acuity clinical environment with the stability and resources of Louisiana’s leading integrated healthcare system. You will join a collaborative group of two established traumatologists, supported by dedicated APPs and state-of-the-art surgical technology.
As an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon at Ochsner Lafayette General, you will play a pivotal role in providing life-saving musculoskeletal care to the Acadiana region. This position offers a balanced mix of hospital-based trauma response and clinic-based follow-up, with the added flexibility to perform elective cases at the Ochsner Lafayette General Orthopedic Campus.
Key Position Highlights:
- Elite Trauma Environment: Practice at the region’s only Level 2 Trauma Center with 24/7 in-house General Surgery Trauma/Critical Care and Hospitalist support.
- Cutting-Edge Technology: Full access to advanced surgical tools, including Hana tables, modular pelvis/acetabulum traction tables, O-arm imaging, and navigation systems.
- Collaborative Call: Shared call schedule among the practice, including two existing Orthopedic Traumatologists.
- Academic Involvement: Opportunity to mentor and educate residents through Ochsner University Hospital and Clinics.
- Robust Support: Dedicated team including one clinic-based Orthopedic APP and one additional inpatient-based Trauma APP.
Requirements
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery Residency and an Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Orthopedic Surgery.
- Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Louisiana.
- Proficiency in complex fracture management, pelvic/acetabular trauma, and post-traumatic reconstruction.
