The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG) is seeking a fellowship-trained, board-certified or board-eligible Orthopedic Sports Medicine Surgeon to join our highly collaborative 12-surgeon team in the Sacramento Valley. This position offers a robust surgical practice with comprehensive, built-in infrastructure, allowing you to focus entirely on patient care without the burdens of overhead, billing, or RVU pressures. Job Description
As an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Surgeon with TPMG, you will step into a thriving, well-established practice based in the North Valley between Sacramento and the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills. You will work alongside a collegial team that includes 12 orthopedic surgeons (including 3 hand specialists), 8 Physician Assistants, 2 non-operative sports medicine physicians, dedicated patient care coordinators, and expert schedulers.
Surgical Practice Scope:
- Focus on sports medicine and hip arthroscopy.
- Manage cold trauma, routine fractures, and general orthopedic cases.
- Maintain a highly favorable work-life balance with a shared community-level trauma call schedule of approximately 1:12.
Job Requirements
- MD or DO from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of an accredited Orthopedic Surgery Residency and a subspecialty Fellowship in Sports Medicine.
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Orthopedic Surgery.
- Currently licensed to practice in California or eligible to obtain a California medical license.
Compensation, Benefits & Incentives

- Base Salary Range: $640,200.00 to $660,000.00 / Year
- Incentive Potential: Up to an additional $83,270.00* (based on premium pay and performance metrics).
- Access up to $250,000.00 for a home down payment—interest-free for 10 years with NO payments due until the end of the 10-year period.
- Up to $10,000.00 moving allowance paid directly by TPMG.
- Three comprehensive retirement plans, including a defined-benefit Pension Plan and a 401(k).
- TPMG is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Eligible Employer.
- Full malpractice and tail coverage, comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and optional long-term care insurance.
