Job Summary
McFarland Clinic is seeking a fellowship-trained, Board-Eligible or Board-Certified Orthopedic Hand Surgeon to step into an established, high-volume practice in Ames, Iowa. As a member of Iowa’s largest physician-owned and governed multi-specialty group, you will join a comprehensive Orthopedic and Sports Medicine team. This position offers an immediate volume of hand and upper extremity cases, supported by a vast internal referral network, with a direct track to full partnership and Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) ownership.
Job Description & Scope of Practice
In this role, you will provide specialized surgical and non-surgical care for a diverse patient population presenting with hand, wrist, and upper extremity pathologies.
- Surgical Infrastructure: Access a newly built, state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) equipped with the latest surgical technology and dedicated orthopedic support staff.
- On-Call Responsibilities: Enjoy an excellent work-life balance with an equitable 1:10 call rotation schedule.
- Practice Environment: Direct collaborative access to an integrated team of physical therapists, occupational hand therapists, and advanced practice providers (APPs).
- Patient Volume: Walk into a busy, pre-existing patient base drawn from an expansive multi-specialty referral network spanning central Iowa.
Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery Residency and an Orthopedic Hand Surgery Fellowship.
- Board-Certified or Board-Eligible (BC/BE) by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS).
- Eligible for an unrestricted medical license to practice in the State of Iowa.
- Both experienced surgeons and incoming new graduates / fellows are highly encouraged to apply.
