Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is seeking a passionate, fellowship-trained Orthopedic Hand Surgeon to join our rapidly growing, fast-paced clinic in Meridian, Idaho. As an integral part of an established, comprehensive musculoskeletal team, you will manage a vibrant panel of acute and chronic hand and upper extremity patients. This position balances a thriving elective clinical practice with essential trauma involvement, providing regular coverage at Idaho’s leading Level 2 Trauma Facility.
Full Description & Responsibilities
In this role, you will step into a highly collaborative environment backed by an extensive referral network. Your clinical and surgical duties will include:
- Comprehensive Patient Management: Conduct initial exams, develop targeted treatment plans, perform in-office procedures, administer multiple joint injections, and manage custom casting/bracing.
- Advanced Surgical Intervention: Manage complex pre-operative diagnostics, execute expert surgical interventions, and oversee robust post-operative follow-up for both acute injuries and chronic, non-surgical conditions.
- Data & Medical Evaluation: Order, interpret, and evaluate complex laboratory and diagnostic imaging; safely prescribe medications and biological treatments.
- Trauma & Call Coverage: Participate in a structured call schedule of 7 days per month, split between Hand and General Orthopedic trauma at our partner Level 2 Trauma Facility.
Team Support & Ecosystem
You will not be practicing in isolation. The incoming surgeon joins a powerhouse network of over 650 providers, specifically collaborating day-to-day with:
- 7 Orthopedic Surgeons
- 2 Non-operative Sports Medicine Physicians
- Dedicated Podiatrists
- A full cadre of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)
- Coverage Area: 4 clinic locations, 2 hospitals, and an active Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).
Job Requirements
To maintain our high standard of patient care, all candidates must possess:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree.
- Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited orthopedic residency program.
- Successful completion of a dedicated, accredited Hand Fellowship with a demonstrated ability to manage complex hand and upper extremity trauma.
- Board certified through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS) or the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS)—or eligible to obtain certification within three years of employment.
- Ability to obtain an unrestricted Idaho medical license and full medical staff privileges at SARMC and affiliated health system facilities; valid controlled substance registration with the Idaho Board of Pharmacy and the DEA.
