Job Summary

Shriners Children’s Northern California (SCHNC) is seeking a visionary Pediatric Hand Surgeon to join our world-renowned surgical team. This is a premier opportunity for a board-certified/eligible Orthopedic Surgeon with specialized fellowship training in Hand & Upper Extremity. The ideal candidate will possess a deep commitment to the tripartite mission of excellence in clinical care, groundbreaking research, and the education of the next generation of surgeons. You will join a multidisciplinary environment ranked among the nation’s elite for pediatric orthopedics, with a robust academic affiliation with the University of California at Davis (UC Davis) Medical Center.

As a Pediatric Hand Surgeon at SCHNC, you will manage a diverse and complex patient population. Our upper extremity services are comprehensive, treating congenital malformations, brachial plexus birth palsy, post-traumatic deformities, and neuromuscular conditions including cerebral palsy and tetraplegia.

 

Clinical Excellence & Collaboration:

  • Work alongside a dedicated care manager, physician assistants, and a specialized team of hand/occupational therapists.
  • Engage in a collaborative regional ecosystem between SCHNC and UC Davis Health, ensuring the highest level of care for complex cases.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art facilities located on the UC Davis campus.

 

Academic & Research Leadership:

  • Education: Play a pivotal role in teaching. You will mentor Hand Surgery fellows from two programs, a dedicated SCHNC Pediatric Hand Fellow, orthopedic and plastic surgery residents, and medical students.
  • Innovation: Leverage $20 million in annual system-wide funding for genomics, motion analysis, and translational research to advance the field of pediatric hand surgery.

 

Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency.
  • Completion of a Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery fellowship.
  • Board certified/eligible by the ABOS; eligible for Subspecialty Certification (SC).
  • Must possess or be eligible for a California state medical license.
  • Significant experience in pediatric patients; a specialized interest in brachial plexus birth injuries is highly preferred.
